In many cases, parking structures are expanding their use from solely parking to mixed-use applications with retail, residential, or other uses. There is also an increased use of parking structure roofs for other applications, such as solar arrays and green roofs, which can become areas for employees, residents, and the community to enjoy the outdoors. The parking structure can be designed as a Total Precast structure where all major structural components are precast concrete, or precast can also be considered for hybrid systems where precast concrete is used in combination with other structural systems such as cast-in-place concrete.
